Castelrotto
On the sunny side of South Tyrol lies Kastelruth, home of the famous folk music group "Kastelruther Spatzen". The capital of the Schlern area has several famous sons. The historian Leo Santifaller was born in Kastelruth and the minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein is a descendent from the village.
The village is also rich in sights and aside from numerous castles and ruins in the surrounding area, there are several elaborately painted houses in the centre and you can admire the processions of Corpus Christi, Sacred Heart and Thanksgiving, where the inhabitants will show up in their local costumes. The variety of its scenic beauty, art and tradition and the nature of its residents give this part of South Tyrol a particular attraction.
